There are also structured sections that can be easily filled in by selecting the appropriate options in check boxes or from a drop down list.

The advantages of electronic medical records are many. The very basic advantage is that it is legibile and even the patient can read it easily unlike a doctor's prescription which only the chemist can read.

The electronic medical record saves hours of processing time by its very nature of being organized and neatly presentated in a searchable form. The data can be edited without any problems.
